  • User-Generated Content: We process all the content you create and share. This includes photos and videos of makeup looks, product reviews, comments, likes, saved items, and messages you send within the community.
  • AI Beauty Expert Submissions: For our AI Beauty Expert feature, we process the photos you upload and text descriptions you provide. Before using this feature, you will be asked to grant explicit permission to share this data with our third-party AI service provider. The specific data shared includes: uploaded photos, text descriptions, and basic technical metadata. This information is used solely to generate your personalized recommendations and is not shared publicly unless you choose to post the look to your profile.
  • Technical and Usage Information: We automatically gather technical details about your device (such as OS version and device type) and your interaction with our app (such as features used, time spent, and content viewed). This helps us diagnose problems and improve functionality.

To enable sharing and AI analysis, the app will request access to your device's photo library and camera. Access is only granted with your explicit permission.

2. How We Utilize Your Information

The information we handle is essential for operating, personalizing, and improving the Unity platform. Our primary purposes for using this information are outlined below.

  • Service Operation: To run the core features of the app, such as displaying your profile, sharing your posts, and enabling community interactions like following and commenting.
  • Personalization: To customize your experience by suggesting creators to follow, showing you relevant makeup looks, and tailoring content in your feed.
  • AI Feature Functionality: To analyze the images and text you submit to the AI Beauty Expert and return personalized product recommendations, color palettes, and style suggestions. Before any data is sent to our third-party AI service provider, we will explicitly request your permission and clearly explain what data will be shared.
  • Analytics and Improvement: To understand how our community uses Unity, allowing us to identify areas for improvement, fix bugs, and develop new features that you'll love.
  • Communication: To send you important service-related announcements, security alerts, or to respond to your support inquiries.

3. Data Security and Retention

We implement a range of technical and administrative security measures designed to protect your information. Data is stored on secure, third-party cloud servers and is encrypted both in transit (as it travels over the internet) and at rest (while stored on our servers).

We retain your information for as long as your account remains active. If you choose to delete your account, we will initiate a process to permanently remove your personal information and content from our active systems in accordance with our data lifecycle policies, subject to any legal or regulatory obligations to retain certain information.

4. Engagement with Third-Party Services

Unity relies on external partners to provide essential infrastructure and services. These include cloud hosting providers, data analytics tools, and performance monitoring services. We carefully vet these partners to ensure they meet our standards for security and privacy. Third-Party AI Service Provider

Our AI Beauty Expert feature is powered by a third-party artificial intelligence service. Before you use this feature for the first time, the app will:

  • Request Your Permission: You will see a clear prompt asking for your consent to share data with the third-party AI service.
  • Explain What Data is Sent: The data shared includes the photos you upload, any text descriptions you provide, and basic technical information necessary for processing (such as image format and size).
  • Identify the Recipient: The data is sent to our AI service provider, which operates under strict data protection standards equivalent to or exceeding our own privacy commitments.

Data Protection by Third-Party AI Provider: Our AI service provider has implemented comprehensive security measures including:

  • End-to-end encryption for all data transmission
  • Secure data storage with industry-standard encryption protocols
  • Strict data retention policies that ensure your photos and information are processed only for the purpose of generating recommendations and are not retained longer than necessary
  • No use of your data for training AI models or any other purposes beyond providing the service to you
  • Compliance with international data protection regulations including GDPR and CCPA

Your Control: You can choose not to use the AI Beauty Expert feature at any time. If you decline permission to share data with the third-party AI service, you can still use all other features of Unity. You may also revoke this permission at any time through the app's settings, though this will disable the AI Beauty Expert functionality.

We do not share any other personal information (such as your account details, profile information, or community activity) with the AI service provider. Only the specific photos and text you submit through the AI Beauty Expert feature are transmitted to this third party.

5. Your Control and Data Rights

You have control over the personal information you share with Unity. We provide you with the following rights regarding your data:

  • Right to Access: You can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Right to Rectification: You can modify or update inaccurate information through your account settings.
  • Right to Erasure: You can request the deletion of your account and all associated personal information.

6. Our Policy Regarding Minors

The Unity community is built for adults. Our services are not directed at, or intended for, individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that we have inadvertently gathered information from a minor, we will take immediate steps to delete it from our records.

As Unity grows and evolves, we may need to update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our services or in applicable laws.
